THE BITTERSWEET FEELING OF FAILURE
Do you know the feeling of drowning?
You want to swim or to float to save yourself, however, it is choking you?
Did you somehow feel that kind of desperation? To ask for help? expecting that someone will appear to remove you in the water? Or to stay above the water to breathe?
That is what it feels like when you are being rejected or when you failed, even though you know that you work hard for it, but still, you did not get it and you can't do anything about it.
That kind of situation will not only lessen the confidence that you have built, but it feels like you are being ripped out of yourself. Or in other words, you are slowly loosing your self with the feeling of rejection---the shame and the sadness.
Nevertheless, do you know what I've realized after those bittersweet failures that I've experienced?
You just have to accept the fact that we are only humans, we cannot avoid it.
No one is exempted in experiencing and feeling that kind of despair.
No one is exempted in experiencing and feeling that kind of despair.
Only YOU can help yourself in that kind of situation."
In spite of my limited experienced and background of mental health, I've learned how to handle my emotions well and how to deal with it alone. Aside from the fact that I always have my strong support system at my back.
However, what about the others who are not knowledgeable in mental health principles? How are they going to cope up with it alone?
That's why I still feel blessed that regardless of what happened or what I experienced, I can still stand and share it openly not caring of what other people might think.
This is not to brag that I know these things because I study psychology, but to open awareness to others who might or shall experience the same situation that I had,
"that it is okay to cry, to be weak, to be vulnerable and that it is okay to ask for help if you can not handle it on your own. Because it only means that despite being emotionally unstable, you are strong enough to admit that you need help and support from other people."
And accept the fact that failing in someway is part of our life. You just need to learn from those mistakes, rejections and failures and from that, pick up yourself and start anew. Besides, you will only know the full meaning of success after you stumbled hundred of times and failed a thousand times.
So to those people who's with me in my roller coaster ride, thank you! It means so much to me.
How about you? What is your bittersweet failure experience? share your experience in the comment section. Thank you!
